Paradox
I think the purpose of the paradox in Life of Pi is to show that people have something like multiple personality disorder only it's not a disorder. Martel making Richard Parker a reflection of Pi shows that Pi had another personality different from the religious Pi. Parker represented a wild Pi that would do anything to survive. It helped Martel's purpose because Pi's other personality, Parker, kept him alive and gave him a reason to live.

I agree that Richard Parker is a reflection of Pi, except that each of them represent a different personality. I also like that at the end you mentioned the value of Richard Parker in the story.

ReplyDeleteI like your idea on how everyone has multiple personalities in life of pi like the three wise men who meet pi that one day and look calm at first but later get angry at each other.
